    The last line reads:
    “….the market essentially pancaked.”
What does “essentially pancaked” mean? Just became so sweet that everyone started jumping in? Sorry, don’t quite yet know all the market-related figures of speech.

Pancaked: fell flat with a squash

Here’s another theory: It was a holiday week – the big traders left early and the janitor spilled cleaning fluid on a trading terminal which shorted out the “buy at market” key.

Depending on what happens Monday, the janitor either gets fired or a raise.
