Is Swine Flu Paranoia Going Too Far?

absolutely!
Last mass vacination for swine flu was halted due to the vaccine being more damaging than the swine flu.
I would hope the medical people have learned something in all the years that have passed.
hmmm.doctors in central alberta not getting vaccinated….interesting.

Last week three kids in my grandsons 2nd grade were absent with the H1N1. The school principal said there were sick kids in every grade. My daughter who is 40 and lives with us was diagnosed with the virus and spent a miserable week with a fever, in bed, and overall lost ten days and ten pounds. My wife and I took the Tamaflu Rx and did not get sick. H1N1 is definitely out there , and after seeing what happened to my daughter, I will take the shot if I can get it. Last week there was some available about an hours drive from my home, but people were in line before daybreak and the local news said 400 shots were given before they ran out.
Not sure to what extent it is going on in the US…but here in Canada we have had deaths, one just a couple days ago that took a healthy young 13 year old hockey player within a few days. Friends of ours have 2 kids that are severely ill in Ottawa with this flu. The emergency rooms are taking in sick people everyday now.I’m sure there will be/is paranoia but if your life is threatened by this then I think paranoia is better than blindly ignoring it. I have a sister on the front lines in the Hospital that seems very concerned, so if she is concerned I’m concerned.Better be safe than sorry imo.Whether the vaccine is safe, well it hasn’t killed anyone here yet. Yes maybe made some feel ill, but so does the regular vaccine.
I hear MDG (Medicago) are in the human trial phase for a vaccination to be released soon.
I have a degree in Nursing and I’m thinking…. hmmmm get vaccinated and risk a bad reaction to…..oh ya, there were no bad reactions in the studies. OR don’t get a vaccination and risk, let’s see….. what was that, uhmmm…..risk aaah……OH YA! Risk DYING.

How many of you are too young to remember people walking around your town, or trying to walk anyway, because of the crippling effects of polio? Who do you know, personally, that died from Diphtheria, Whooping Cough or Tetanus? I’ll bet no one because of the vaccine programs in North America. But in recent years there’s a growing movement to not trust the science that have nearly eradicated these diseases, and not get vaccinated. I have to think that these diseases will make a comeback just as surely as gold will hit 1800 and we’ll all be rich. We’ll be be sick, but we’ll be rich.
Well, that’s my philosophy, anyway. I always get the yearly shots to help protect my family, myself, my patients, and my community (in that order).

ok well i think it is way overblown. im not a doctor but this is no where near polio. people are just panicking over what seems like another flu strand that killed very few people in canada. its in societies like mexico that stuff like this thrives, not in Canada and the US. get a grip people this is far less severe then the common flu virus and until we had the name H1N1 to tag an illness with and make it a media target it wasnt a big deal. there are bigger problems in society and bigger health issues. i admit that there has been a lot more sickness going around but i dont know of even one person who has needed to be hospitalized due to H1N1 and for the people that did, it was gone quickly. Seriously, this is going to sound heartless but people die every day and because some 13 year old boy died of H1N1 is a poor reason to roll out canada’s largest vaccination program EVER! there are better places to put the money especially in these economic times. and again this is going to sound terrible and i know maybe some of you dont believe in Darwinism but when healthcare grew through the last century by leaps and bounds we effectively wiped out natural selection or survival of the fittest by keeping even the people with week immune systems alive so now after generations passed we have a society comprised of a mix of good and bad. so some people will die easily and one day an epidemic will start the selection again but i guarantee you it wont be something like swine flu it will be much worse. wow peter this thread has got me down right angry at society. but maybe im just ignorant and arrogant.
The recent global financial crisis, was a created and opportunistic event. As more global crisis’s are invented/created, they of course, required a global solution that only a global governing body can provide, thus eliminating the sovereignty of nations to govern their own problems. The next global crisis that is on the agenda is “Global Warming.” This term is now called “Climate Change” since the globe, over the last few years, has been cooling due to decreased sun activity and ocean temperature changes, not fossil fuels; the same reasons for global temperature changes since it’s beginning.

Now, we also have the H1N1 flu pandemic happening, another global crisis much over exaggerated. The 20 billion dollar bill being passed on to the drug companies is big business. You can rest assured they and their associated partners in profit, including politicians, will be doing all they can to promote the crisis.

Lord Christopher is not a climate scientist, but neither is Al Gore. But, Al Gore conveniently won the Nobel Peace Prize for his “Inconvenient Truth” propaganda movie creating a belief among the sheeple (people) that we are tipping into oblivion and he is some kind of authority on the subject. Another Nobel Peace Prize has just been granted to U.S. President Obama after less than a year in office. Everybody is still wondering what great accomplishments he achieved to be awarded such a prestigious honour. But, in all probability, it is not for what he has done, rather, it has given him the credentials, respect, and consent by the masses for what he is going to do. As freedom and the prosperity and sovereignty of nations are being diminished you have to wonder if this isn’t part of the plan. With two proclaimed Nobel Peace Prize laureates standing arm in arm, who would doubt there genius.
The signing of the “Proposed Climate Change Treaty” to be presented in Copenhagen this December and endorsed by Prime Minister Gordon Brown could provide the legal rational for the biggest transfer of wealth from the “have” to “have not” countries and the relinquishment of sovereignty under the guise of Climate Change. Of course, the “have not” counties will love this and will be all over it like the plague, no pun intended, and if it it signed and ratified by the “have” countries (U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.), it legally supersedes their own sovereign laws and put them in liability to a global governing body chosen by an elite few – basic communism.
So the pattern is clear. Create a crisis, create enough fear, and the masses will relinquish their rights and reason for a solution.
the flu season has barely begun … when it is over there is not a poster on this board who’s life will not be affected by this flu. this is the real deal and every reasonable form of protection from this flu should be taken.
public awareness of the flu’s potential is a service, those who feel paranoia is resulting should give their head a shake and think twice about the value of an ounce of prevention.

First, influenza is not like the common cold although the initial systems can be similar. Influenza can be deadly. Also, the H1N1 flu is different from the more conventional flu because it targets younger people who have stronger immune systems. Counter- intuitively, the elderly are somewhat resistant to H1N1, even though their immune systems are generally weaker.
So Ryan M, H1N1 can be a very serious disease, as was the Spanish flu in the 1920s where worldwide, more than 22 million people died. (Some estimates say it was 50 million people.) Also, influenza pandemics can go through stages where they seem to disappear, only to return in a new wave which is much more dangerous. That is just one of the reasons why it is important to get as many people vaccinated as possible. This will reduce the chances of an evolution into a much more severe H1N1 virus.
I think that we have an advanced society, as opposed to a jungle. In an advanced society we try to help the sick and disadvantaged. This is the time to be helpful and not ignore the seriousness of H1N1 flu.
Please do not forget that there is also the avian or bird flu out there, which if it ever gets loose can be much more serious than even the Spanish flu. The fatality rate from bird flu is very high, (greater than %50).
I’ve always considered it just another example of authorities scaring people into doing things they would otherwise not want to do. And the drug companies clap their hands and grease some political palms.
So far, people have resisted the idea of getting chipped. But in the future, I believe something will be set up to scare them into doing it. Then all bets are off!

Nobody is putting anything in my body…..we go from one crises to the next. People die from the flu every year….never hear about it….so lets create another crises … the masses respond. The people of the world are being played like a fiddle, and don’t even know it….we will give up our freedom and sovereinty, for what….? Another manufacturered crises….Wake Up!
Well, if the swine flu ever hooks up with bird flu, we’ll find out if pigs can fly (I know, old joke). Seriously though, it’s not paranoia if the threat is real. The chances of dying from flu is a lot higher than dying from a terrorist attack. Loading up on duct tape and plastic sheeting is a paranoid reaction. Taking a flu shot is just common sense.

With all due respect to all we have no way of confirming that it is not a voluntarily given flue by governmemts or that it even exist it can easily be a governmemt made up story that is imposed on doctors. For one since I cannot perform the test myself I will not trust it nor the doctors report and definately not the media frensies their is more to it why would all of a sudden the governmemts from around the world care about it citizen??? It’s ok to destroy peoples financial lives and lie on top of lies and than ho but get your shot as if they care common people do you really trust or believe anything that comes out of any officials these days I sure would not. Hearing that the titanic is still sailling is more believable than an official report to me if you get my drift.

I read Part of a book by Kevin Treudeau and how its a big money making scam by the government with all these flu shots. Also he explains that when you get any kind of flu shot, it does not strengthen your imune system but actually the opposite happens. He said that your body to strengthen against any kind of desease is to let it fight it naturally.
I don’t know how true that is but the way i see it is that God created us without defult but the wickedness of this world and the many sins that was passed down generationaly and also the many sins in our own lives can have much affect on the future of our lives.
It is the nature of mankind to place power into an ever increasing centralized totalitarian government. The genius of the founders was to create the checks and balances of exec, judicial, legisl. Now that the US Supreme Court is broken, or off track, the checks and balances no longer work.
Any and all causes/paranoias now work to the government’s advantage. Social justice, race relations, climate change, buying votes with tax money, epidemics real or imagined — all now have have a use for goverment to recreate the broken record of man placing power and trust into more and more government until a monster is created.
As to your question – is swine flu paranoia going too far? Well no, it is just a normal example of the standard means for a government to garner more power. (And indeed a fair portion of the world’s population does view government as “god” or perhaps as a means of our collective good intentions, and thus thinks this is a good thing.)
