A Letter To Woody Johnson And The New York Jets

Posted by Peter Grandich at 9:02 AM on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

As a forty-year fan of the New York Jets, I’ve endured a sense of being a “second-class” football citizen in New York. Obviously, not being to the Super Bowl in forty years has been a part of this, but I believe your organization doesn’t show the love and respect for its fans that the New York Giants do. The Giants constantly keep a lifeline open to their past by regularly having  past players be part of the Giants of today.  How great it must feel for Giants fans to see Lawrence Taylor lead the team out onto the field at least once a year.

New York was blessed with two of the greatest defensive players in NFL history. The Giants had LT and the Jets had its own version. He wore #73 and  without a doubt, symbolizes what a NY Jet fan is all about. Joe Klecko is greatly loved by J-E-T-S fans all over and how great would it be to see Joe lead the defense out at a Jet game?

Here’s a video from your own organization created about Joe. I think it’s time you sit down and watch it, Woody, and know how Jet fans’ blood starts to flow when we’re reminder of what a JET player should be – a non-stop wrecking machine.

Must watch for all fans who remember what being a true NFL player was .

Sincerely,

    Peter,

I understand your frustration with the NY Jets ownership, but there always a bright side, you could change your colors to Silver and Blue and you would be filled with an organiztion with a rich history and success. AMERICA’S TEAM

  2. Sid says:

Joe Klecko is the biggest injustice in all of the NFL by not being in the Hall of Fame. The man went to the pro bowl in 3 different positions, was a four0time all pro on mostly horrible Jet teams which made him be on the field all the time, and player of the year.

  3. Army says:

Sid, you are so wrong, the greatest defensive player EVER was and still is LT. The entire league changed their offensive schemes to avoid him, and they still couldn’t

  4. Sid says:

Hey Army jerk. I never said LT wasn’t! Read jerk! I said Klecko was an injustice by not being in the Hall of Fame moron!

  5. TonyBaloney says:

Calm down, Sid. Maybe next time you can correct someone’s misimpression without being insulting…

  6. Paul says:

    Sid..I’m curious…what is a big injustice anyway…hehe…
    …is it a body part?

  7. Jeff says:

Sid….take it easy…..why the name calling?….we are all on the same side…..

  8. Calm down everyone! At a big sports event two years ago, Joe klecko spoke and said LT was the greatest athlete, period. He said no one in all of sports was so dominating to the point that an entire opposing team was impacted. I think Klecko is very content with being the second greatest defensive player of all-time in the NY area.

Peter – It’s been awhile since you last commented on NAK. Any new thoughts or comments to share?

  10. Dan M. says:

    Peter,

You forgot one guy who might just have been the 2nd best defensive player in the NY area, on a few random occasions; Brett Favre.

  11. NAKTOTENBUCKS says:

I was hoping to have changed my name to NAKTOFIFTEENBUCKS by now…

  12. Seth says:

NAK Peter spoke about it on BNN and in his george and him weekly chats. I think he has more of a life than just NAK

Peter, the redskins couldn’t protect their golden quarterback, against LT

  14. ROBERT J. BEEG says:

    Peter:

Many thanks for sharing those wonderful film clips of Joe…
Joe truly is one of the all time greats to have ever played the game,
and now he plays for the greatest team of all time…The Lord’s!

    NAKTOTENBUCKS,

I used your strategy and dumbed my NAK at 7.30/7.40. Hoping for a pullback.
